BABYSITTER

A society needs different people holding different profession so that they can contribute their various skills to the development of their society. But if you look at Muslims they tend to obtain popular and traditional business that give an immediate reward. then, our society could not be developed as a progressive nation and can be left behind anyway. thus, we should try to train our youths of various professions and skills without further delay, so let's have a look at various types of profession including babysitter.

Babysitter is someone to look after their children while that person is out[1]. For example, when the parents are going to work and babysitter will take over take care of their children until their parents back home. Babysitters are work either at homes or at childcare. Babysitters are responsible for children’s safe and children right’s. They have a responsibility to ensure that the children in their care are safeguarded from exposure to accident or infection. For examples, windows should be locked, food must be stored at the correct temperature and ensure that hands are washed after children have used the toilet and before eating or touching food. Also they must be aware of UN convention on the rights of the child. The UN Convention on the Rights of the child is a statement of principles about the way in which children should be treated and how their welfare should be promoted. Sometimes, babysitters are also responsible to teach the children about the early year’s education. Babysitters must qualified by National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)[2] in order to develop skills of educate the children as at UK. Also for parents that need babysitter must find at the centre or group of people that provide babysitters to society. For examples, Great Au pair in Africa.

Throughout the world, we need babysitters in the society to help us care of our children when we are not able to take care of them. The children really need fully care especially handicapped children. In terms of safety, babysitters must keep medicines away from children, foods must be stored at the correct temperature, regular clearing up and putting away of toys and equipment, street doors should be kept locked and ensure the children wash their hands after playing outside. Babysitters are important to make sure there are no accidents and emergencies happen during their parents are not around. Babysitters must be train to use first aid, babysitters must know which contact numbers to call if there has emergency cases and know how to solve the problem if the child has a serious accidents. Besides, there is beneficial of babysitters in this society. This is because to make sure the children keep healthy when parents go to works. For examples, babysitters have to ensure that hands are washed after children have used the toilet , endure the environment is clean ,ask the children to use tissues for runny sneezes and seek medical advice and contact parents if a child becomes very ill. Every babysitter has a responsibility to contribute to keeping children safe from abuse and neglect. All childcare workers have a responsibility to be aware of the Area Child Protection Procedures[3], which outline the duties of everyone involved with children in a particular geographical area in cases of suspected abuse. For the majority of childcare workers the main duty is to ensure that any concerns or suspicions about possible child abuse are passed on promptly to the appropriate person. If babysitters know that something happens to the children either physically or emotionally, they must report immediately to police station. Last but not least, babysitters are important to teach good practice to the children and Islamic concepts. Also the society must aware how to choose babysitters or child care to send their children.

There are so many advantages of babysitter. First and foremost, babysitters will ensure that children are safeguarding. According to Child Protection Dutch GP’s Perspective[4], this group will make sure that all babysitters had take care of the children will fully safeguarding. The children also get well educational because of babysitters are responsible to educate and give good practicing to them[5]. For examples, activities of colorings books play the games that will develop their thinking skills. Babysitters also responsible to take care the children’s welfare. So that, the parents can go to works without have to worry about their children. This is because of there have a legal issues in child safety. For example, Health and Safety Act 1974[6]. Besides, babysitters will satisfy all the needs of children while their parents cannot do that. There are so many cases of children abuse by parents, babysitter responsible to report the cases of children abuse if there is something wrong to the children. For examples, babysitter sees the children injured and know that the children had abuse by the parents. So, she responsible to report the cases to the polices with some proven or witnesses. Babysitters help the society to decrease the cases of children abuse. From a practical viewpoint, babysitters can often be more flexible about pick-up and drop-off times. This extra flexibility may mean that parents don't have to organise back-up care as often and is particularly useful if parents work shifts.

There also have disadvantages in babysitter field. We cannot trust babysitters easily. There is lot of cases of babysitters nowadays. The babysitters also human that have feelings of bored and anger. Sometimes, the behavior of children will make babysitter mess up. In addition, the parents are not there 24 hours to observe their children with the babysitters. So, it may leads to children abuse. Besides, the children will not get true love as well as true love from their parents. At early ages, the parents have to pay attention to their children. It is avoid the children do not behave in the future. Sometimes, babysitters do not teach the children because they have other children to focus on. Most nurseries take care of the children as much as they can without limitation. They cannot focus on all of children. So, there have the cases of careless. Next, babysitters not develop the way their parents teach the children. Babysitters or some of child care not teach using the Islamic concepts. It is quite expensive to parents to hire babysitters to take care of their children. Parents also have other expenses to concentrate on. Sometimes, babysitters are among youngsters that do not know everything such as infection among children, safeguarding and teaching. They just do as a part- time job whereas babysitter must know and in Malaysia there has training to babysitters and same goes to overseas. Babysitters also need rest such as going to vacation or holidays. It may effects to parents that have to cancel their activities and absent at works. The reputation of parents will become worst because of babysitters if parents hire babysitters that have family problems or personal problems. They tend to always ask permission to absent.

No one in childcare works alone. Babysitters will always working in partnership with other adults who have a place’s in the child life. It may at times babysitters working as a part of a multidisciplinary team involving health visitors, social workers, teachers and other staffs. The quality of the relationship between the child’s different carers and interested adults is crucial determinant of the quality of the care received by the child. A good working relationship with parents means that babysitters will communicate about the child’s needs and any concerns about the child. The child will be cared for in complementary ways at home and in the childcare setting. For examples, working with parents is a key area of good practice for childcare workers. Working with parents is one of the skills that childcare workers need to develop in order to ensure that their practice meets the standards required in childcare settings today and in the future[7]. The conflicts that can occasionally arise between different individuals involved with a child can be very damaging to the child and the quality of care. Working together can sometimes be more difficult than it seems. The concept of partnership depends on some level of agreement about care practices and the best interest of the child. Parents are the most significant adults in children’s lives. They have intimate knowledge and understanding of the child and are the most influential factor in the child’s early development. Babysitters need to develop good relationships and effective partnerships with parents in order to ensure that children receive care that is co-ordinate between different settings and adults.

There are some of characteristics that required being babysitters. Firstly, must be qualified by National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) as in UK. Babysitters must be aware of being babysitters and must be qualified so that the rate of cases about the babysitters can decrease. For examples, “parents regret trusting babysitters” , “task force to probe baby killing case” , and “no foul play in baby’s death” [8]. They must hot to safeguarding at child care. Next, nurturing. It should be natural for a babysitter to be caring, loving and compassionate when it comes to children. So, we can avoid the cases of children abuse if babysitters have these characteristics which are caring and loving.  Besides, babysitters must know what to do and to solve it when emergencies. For example, when the child asthma, babysitters must know how to use inhalers. They must be responsible. At the end of the day, parents will need a report from the babysitter on what your children were up to. Naturally, they will want to report something good. But if there are instances that the children did something wrong, then the parents must know about it. Babysitters should be honest enough to tell parents what went wrong. As stated in the quranic ayah below, we must be honest when do something.

“And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive” [9]

In western views, they called someone that responsible to care of their children when the parents are not home is nanny. Nanny is responsible to care of the children same goes to babysitters. But mostly the nanny just comes at home. GreatAupair in the Africa is responsible to provide babysitters or nannies to the society. At the overseas, the society needs babysitters just once when they need it. For examples, when parents outstation, so they will hire babysitters to take care of their children during they not at home. After they came back, the babysitters will dismiss by parents of the children. Their nannies mostly are youngsters such as students that do part-time job. In London, if the parents have handicapped child, they will sent their child to day care that provide education and training[10]. They must be fully handle by babysitters that have qualified by such as NVQ (National Vocational Qualification).

In Islamic views, our Prophet Muhammad SAW was care by his relatives after his parents died. He was raised by his paternal grandfather 'Abd al Muttalib (Shaybah) until the age of eight, and after his grandfather’s death by Abu Talib, his paternal uncle[11].  Leaving young children with babysitters or in nursery schools is a practice, which, until quite recently, was virtually unknown among Muslims. Children often accompany their parents, sharing in their experiences and pleasures and being part of their world, and if they must be left, as a rule they stay either with relatives, friends or trusted servants. Hence, Muslim children generally grow up feeling very secure and loved, surrounded by a wide circle of family relationships within which they have a very secure place. Parents and their children should generally very close emotionally and physically. So that, they must be responsible to take care of their children and not practicing sent their children to nursery or child care. In addition, Allah state that breast feeding is considered the proper way to nourish a baby and nursing may be continued, if desired, for as long as two years. So, if the parents sent their children to babysitters, this activity will not happen. Also, mothers are responsible to take care of their children and not responsible to works. It can avoid from sent their children to nursery or child care. Training and guidance begin very early. Their goal is the moulding of the child into a sound Islamic personality, with a good character and morals, strong Islamic principles, sound Islamic knowledge, proper Islamic behaviour, and the equipment to handle the demands of life in a responsible and mature fashion. Such training does not consist merely of a set of directives but, far more importantly, the parents living example of unfailing submission to God through a sincere and conscientious practice of the Islamic teachings. An essential part of this training, beginning very early in life, is obedience, respect and consideration for the parents themselves, as an embodiment of the well-known Muslim proverb, “The pleasure of God is the pleasure of the parents”. Consequently, parents must paly the role to train and guide them and do not give this responsibility to the babysitters. Sometimes, babysitters do not trains and guide the children by Islamic concept. So, the children may not develop and growth using Islamic concepts.

There is Quran and Sunnah recitation was found about babysitters. About how to care of the children and babysitters should learn from these recitations.

“O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination.”

“And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.”[12]

                                    أُعِيذُكَ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّة وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّة

This above is doa to avoid from the devils and whispers. Babysitters should care of the children as well as their parents care about them. Babysitters should practicing recite this doa for the children that they care.

In conclusion, at my point of views, the responsibility of take care the children should be the responsible of parents. It is differs the way of take care the children between babysitters and parents. If parents have to works due to financial problems, their children must be with babysitters that have knowledge about children’s welfare and the most important things is babysitters must have knowledge about take care the children using Islamic teachings. Today, when life in virtually every part of the world is confused by the pull of conflicting values and societal pressures, the conscientious Muslim youngster growing up in the Muslim world faces many challenges and problems. Many-perhaps most-of the young people around him are very far from Islam, often trying to lead him toward various things he knows are forbidden or not in keeping with his Islamic commitment. And for a Muslim youngster growing up in America or other countries of the West, especially in the case of a girl, the situation is likely to be even more difficult. Throughout this time of great stress, the parents are the greatest source of support, understanding and guidance to their children. Hence, this is important for parents to trains and guides their children begin at early ages.
